FAQ

Which titration types does the app support?

The app covers two analysis modes:

  • Acid–Base: Weak Acid, Strong Acid, Acid Mix, DiBasic Acid, Mono- and DiBasic Acid
  • Precipitation: 1:1 Monovalent Anion, 1:2 Divalent Anion, 1:3 Trivalent Anion

Each type comes with a built-in reference dataset so you can explore models immediately after install.

What are Integral and Differential curves?

The Integral curve shows the raw titration profile — potential (mV) plotted against the added volume of titrant. The Differential curve is its first derivative, which produces a sharp peak at the equivalence point, making it easy to identify the endpoint precisely. Both curves are plotted together when you tap Plot Graph.

Do I need to prepare any data before using the app?

No. The app is pre-populated with built-in datasets for every supported model. You can start exploring titration curves immediately after launch without entering anything. To model your own experiment, use the Collect Data button to enter your own values.

How do I enter my own experimental data?

Tap the Collect Data button on the main screen. A form will open where you can input your measured values manually. The app validates entries as you type and calculates the curves once you submit the form — using the same algorithms as the built-in models.

Where can I see the calculated data points?

The full table of calculated values that make up the plotted curves is shown at the bottom of the main page. You can export this table using the export icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

How do I export results?

There are two export options:

  • Data table — tap the export icon in the top-right corner of the main screen.
  • Full PDF report (curves, parameters, and data) — open the left navigation drawer and choose the PDF export option.
Does the app save my sessions?

Yes. The History page stores all previously calculated datasets along with their model parameters. You can revisit or compare any past session at any time. Data persists across app restarts automatically.

Can I customise the chart colours?

Yes. Open the Settings page inside the app to choose your preferred colours for the Integral and Differential curves. The app also supports system-wide light and dark themes, which switch automatically or can be set manually.

Are the calculations suitable for professional research?

The app uses real chemical evaluation algorithms applied in professional analytical chemistry environments. It is designed for chemists, researchers, educators, and students. As with any modelling tool, always validate results against your laboratory protocol and calibration standards.

Which platforms is the app available on?
  • iOS / iPadOS — iPhone and iPad (iOS 12.2+)
  • macOS — Mac (macOS 12.0+)
  • Android — Google Play
  • Windows — Microsoft Store (Windows 10 version 17763.0+)

The app is free on all platforms.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. All calculations, graph plotting, and data storage work fully offline. An internet connection is only needed for store updates and platform account sync if you have that enabled.

What languages does the app support?

The app is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Hindi, and Chinese (Simplified). The interface language follows your device’s system language setting.

Where can I learn about the theory behind the models?

The in-app Help page contains the theoretical background for each titration model along with usage hints. It is accessible directly from the main navigation inside the app.

Does the app collect personal data?

The app may collect device identifiers, usage data, and diagnostics for the purpose of improving stability and performance. This data is not linked to your personal identity. All titration data and settings you create are stored locally on your device. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues & Fixes

Platform-specific steps to resolve the most common problems across all XenVault apps.

iOS

App won't open or crashes on launch

  1. Force-quit the app: swipe up from the bottom and flick the app card away.
  2. Restart your iPhone or iPad.
  3. Check for a pending app update in the App Store.
  4. If the issue persists, delete and reinstall the app. Your exported data is not affected.

Charts or results don't appear

  1. Verify your input data is within the expected range (volumes, concentrations, pH).
  2. Check that the selected calculation model matches your experimental setup.
  3. Toggle Dark/Light mode — occasionally a rendering glitch clears on theme change.

Import fails or data looks wrong

  1. Confirm the CSV uses the correct column order and decimal separator for your locale.
  2. Open the file in Notes or Files first to verify its contents before importing.
  3. Try saving as XLSX from Excel or Numbers — this avoids separator ambiguity.

Touch targets / buttons unresponsive

  1. Dismiss any open modal or popover — it may intercept taps.
  2. Disable any AssistiveTouch overlays while testing.
  3. If running on iPad with a keyboard attached, check whether a keyboard shortcut is intercepting the gesture.

App takes up too much storage

Go to Settings → General → iPhone Storage → [App Name] and tap Offload App to free cache while keeping documents.

Android

App crashes or freezes

  1. Force-stop: Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Force Stop.
  2. Clear the app cache: Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Storage → Clear Cache. This does not delete your data.
  3. Reboot your device.
  4. Update to the latest version from Google Play.

Import fails

  1. Grant the app Files & Media permission if prompted.
  2. Ensure the CSV uses a comma or semicolon as the delimiter, and that decimal separators match your device locale.
  3. If your file is on cloud storage, download it locally before importing.

Graphs render incorrectly or appear blank

  1. Verify hardware acceleration is enabled: Developer Options → Force GPU rendering.
  2. Disable battery-saver mode temporarily — it can throttle rendering.
  3. Check that your Android version meets the minimum requirement (Android 9+).

App not listed in Google Play

Some apps are available by direct APK or region-specific rollout. Check the support page or contact us for an alternative install link.

Data not saving between sessions

  1. Ensure the app is not being killed by aggressive battery optimisation. Go to Settings → Battery → App Launch / Battery Optimization and exempt the app.
macOS

App blocked by Gatekeeper on first launch

  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
  2. Scroll to the Security section and click Open Anyway next to the app name.
  3. Confirm in the dialog that appears.

App crashes at launch

  1. Check Console.app (search for the app name) for crash reports to include when contacting support.
  2. Delete derived/cache data: ~/Library/Caches/[BundleID].
  3. Reinstall from the Mac App Store or the provided installer.

Charts don't render or look distorted

  1. On Macs with multiple GPUs, try switching to the discrete GPU via System Settings → Battery → uncheck "Automatic graphics switching".
  2. Resize the window slightly — this forces a redraw.
  3. Update macOS to the latest supported release.

File import via drag-and-drop not working

  1. Grant Full Disk Access or the specific folder access in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Files and Folders.
  2. Ensure the file is not locked (Get Info → uncheck Locked).

High CPU or memory usage

Large datasets can be calculation-intensive. Reduce the number of data points or the resolution of the concentration grid, then export results to reduce in-memory load.
